Viv Gordon - Artistic Director
Viv co-founded Mean Feet Dance in 2003 after training at Dance Voice, Bristol. She leads all our projects. She is a dance artist and mental health campaigner with lived experience of mental ill health. She initiated our mental health specialism to champion cultural inclusion for people with this hidden disability - as a means to stay well, gain artistic voice and challenge stigma and discrimination by creatively articulating our experiences.
As well as her work with us, she is currently touring her first solo show, I Am Joan, a hopeful comedy about trauma recovery. She is a GDance Associate Artist.
Viv is a leading voice in dance and mental health practice using her own experiences to better understand the access and inclusion needs of people with mental health issues. She has written articles for dance industry publications, and spoken at regional, national and international arts and health events. She won the Judges' Individual prize at the Arts and Health South West Awards 2015 for her contribution to the field.
